How To Ensure Your PVC Stip Curtains are Long Lasting.
When you order high-quality PVC curtains, such as the ones that we supply, you can reasonably expect them to last a long time. However, as with everything that you use on a daily basis, they will eventually need replacing. But, what are the signs you should look for to show whether they just need some care and attention, or whether they actually need replacing? In this article, we are going to share some of our knowledge, gained over years of experience, so that you are able to identify a strip curtain that needs replacing as soon as possible.
Scratched Strips
As you can imagine, when PVC strip curtains are used on a daily basis, all sorts of stresses and strains will be placed on them. PVC is a very popular material as it is very durable and so not easily damaged or broken, but with constant use, scratches will build up over time. As these scratches build up, you may find yourself at the point where you cannot see through the curtain - and this can be a health and safety issue.
However, don't immediately think you have to pay to have them replaced; they may just need a good clean. It could be that dirt has built up on the curtains and any scratches that are present, making them look worse than they actually are. If visibility is dramatically improved after you have cleaned them, then they don't need repairing or replacing just yet, but if it doesn't then you really need to order some replacement PVC strip curtains strips.
Missing Chunks
It is really difficult to actually cut PVC by accident, but this is not to say that it can never happen. If a large heavy or sharp object is pushed through the curtain, then obviously, damage will be done. Most of the time this damage will be purely superficial and nothing to be concerned about. However, from time to time you will find that a small section of the curtain needs to be cut off, and this means you then need to replace the whole strip. This is because having a chunk missing will affect the efficiency of the curtains, especially if you are using them to block noise, pests or heat. You need to place an order for replacement strips quickly to ensure you don't come up against any long-term issues.
Cracked Strips
If you are using PVC strips in an area where they are up against cold temperatures, and you find that they are starting to crack, then you are using lower grade PVC that is not suitable for this particular use. Try to make sure that you choose the right PVC strip for the job, such as our Polar Grade Kits that are manufactured specifically to withstand low temperatures.
However, in the event that you do find some cracks within your PVC strips, then this is a definite indication that they need replacing immediately. Cracked PVC will no longer be effective for the task and may even be susceptible to further damage. You should ensure that the cracked strips are replaced as soon as possible.
